Preface - Expanded memory for PC110.
As you know, there are a few methods for expanding memory of the PalmTop PC110.
Standard method is to replace the standard expanded memory board to bigger one.
Today, however, we have faced to some difficult situations such that bigger memory board has become one of rare materials and that the price remains quite high. And, we also cannot get bigger one like 32MB as a maker's products.
These articles would guide you to get the bigger expanded memory for PC110 with lower cost.
You must make much effort and run your own risk, if you want to get fruitful results.
These articles would show some rebuilt examples such as 8MB, 16MB, another 16MB, 32MB and another 32MB using the standard 4MB memory board.
Some ideas in these articles come from myself and many others have been given by some pioneers, to whom I should say lots of thanks.
4MB board as the base.
At first, I will write about the standard 4MB memory board and the outline of modifying it.
The left photo shows standard 4MB memory boards. The 16Mbits memory chips are removed from the right board in the photo.
By piling up two 16Mbits chips on original ones of a 4MB board, you'll be able to get a 8MB board.
If you'll remount two 64Mbits chips to removed place of a 4MB board, you'll be able to get a 16MB board.
When you use two 128Mbits chips instead of 64Mbits ones, you'll be able to make a 32MB board, but, don't forget to update BIOS and to use a special additional program for booting your system.
You'll be able to get the BIOS upgrade files at the download link of Mr. Seamus Waldron's site.
you'll be able to obtain the special program to reset the memory size at this site. (over16s.lzh)
